National Service Scheme (NSS)
NSS is engaged in grooming the youth – ‘The Leaders of Tomorrow’ – into disciplined and patriotic citizens. There is an intense enthusiasm and interest among students to serve the community. Providing ample opportunities by way of a forum to spur and channelise their energy into socially useful and nation building activities is an absolute necessity.
The NSS unit has been started with this intention. The youth who spend their time, talent and energy in voluntary social work will experience the feeling of being useful to the community and will have the satisfaction of having contributed their might to the society. Further, they will have an opportunity to fulfill their social responsibility as young citizens. On being exposed to the problems of the less fortunate in the society and in endeavoring to solve their problems, these young students will experience the realities of life. This rich experience will go a long way in shaping their personalities- in making them conscientious, responsible and mature individuals. The NSS unit of the College encourages the students in this direction.
The main activities of National Service Scheme (NSS) are towards fulfillment of the following objectives:
- Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve students in resolving them
- Develop a sense of social and civic responsibility amongst students.
- Develop team spirit
- Prepare the students to shoulder responsibilities.
- Embue leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
